He was the husband of Mrs. Estelle Willis* Beale and the son of the late Thomas Exum and Mrs. Stella Saunders Beale. He was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Fenton O. Beale; a brother Leland Beale, Sr.; and two grandchildren, Rhonda and Ray Beale, all of the Black Creek community. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of the W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home by Rev. Len B. Allen, pastor of Black Creek Baptist Church, Rev. G.C. Cruthchfield, pastor of Mt. Carmel Christian Church and Rev. W.B. Watson of the Columbia Baptist Church, Fluvanna County. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were C.C. Edwards, M.H. Lowe, C.W. Bulls, L.E. Bradshaw, J.R. Tomlin, R.T. Barrett, A.T. Hatfield and S.C. Bristow. Honorary pallbearers were members of his Sunday School class and friends of the family.
