All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ SAMUEL REGINALD BEALE Samuel Reginald Beale, 76, a well-known resident of Courtland, died Sunday morning at his home following an illness of several months. Mr. Beale was the son of the late Etheridge Warren and Sallie Barnes Beale, of Southampton County. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hester Edwards Beale; three daughters, Mrs. Eunice Bradshaw and Mrs. Willard Cooper of Franklin and Mrs. Reese Whitfield of Norfolk; a son, Floyd Beale of Franklin; seven grandchildren, Roger, Eunice, Marie and Joyce Drake, Carolyn Gillette, Bobby and Donald Beale, all of Franklin; a brother, Hugh Beale of Courtland; three sisters, Mrs. Annis Oberry of Newsoms, Mrs. Peggy Edwards of Courtland and Mrs. A.P. Porter of Handsom and several nieces and nephews. Services were held at 3:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Courtland Baptist Church, of which the deceased was an active member until his illness, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. F.P. Davis, assisted by the Rev. L.F. Paulette of Smithfield. Mrs. F.P. Davis and Mrs. Terry Gilbert sang "In the Garden" and "Sometime We'll Understand," accompanied by Mrs. Sallie Richardson. There was a large attendance and a profusion of floral offerings. The casket was covered with a pall of Easter lilies, rosebuds and ferns. Pallbearers were: H.C. Edwards, Junius W. Pulley, J.C. Woodard, Robert Bryant, Emmett Babb, Paul Rose, Ezra Gray and Willie Ellis. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland.
