BAILEY Reburial services for Cpl. Spurgeon W. Bailey, 27, who was killed in Sicily in November, 1945, while serving with an engineering unit of the U.S. Army, were held at the grave in Newsoms Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon at three o’clock. Rev. R.L. Chadwick, pastor of the Newsoms Baptist Church, officiated. Pallbearers were Robert Bailey, C.C. Bailey, Robert Holland, J.D. Bailey, Andrew Drake and R.E. Drake. Corporal Bailey’s remains arrived in Franklin last Friday and were taken to the Holland Funeral Home. The deceased was the son of Clifton T. Bailey and the late Nannie Sue Drake Bailey of this county. He was a member of the Buckhorn Baptist Church, near Como, N.C. In addition to his father, he is survived by a brother, Allen Bailey of Franklin; two sisters, Mrs. Spurgeon Beale and Mrs. Merritt Jordan, both of Franklin; and a number of nieces and nephews.
