Beale, who died Thursday morning at 4 o’clock at the home of his son, Leland Beale, at the old Ludlow Lawrence place in Isle of Wight County. Mr. Beale was attending a fish-fry being given to his tenants and a number of neighborhood friends at the Lawrence farm last Saturday. Just before dinner was served Mr. Beale complained of feeling sick and went to the house, being unable to join in the dinner. He soon became violently ill and was paralyzed later in the afternoon. Little hope had been entertained for his recovery as he had been in failing health for several months. Mr. Beale was a native of Isle of Wight County and was in his 59th year. He had been an unusually successful farmer and leaves a considerable estate consisting of several fine farms in Southampton and Isle of Wight. As a man he was genial, accommodating, a generous friend and neighbor. Few men in this section and more genuine friends that Tom Beale and he had won the respect and esteem of all who knew him by his straightforward dealings with all men. He was a faithful and useful member of Black Creek Baptist Church and was always interested in its progress and development. He was true in every relation of life and was a man whose word could always be taken at its full value. He leaves his wife, who was Miss Stella Saunders of Nansemond County; two sons, Leland and Raby Beale; one daughter, Mrs. Bernice Beale Herrin, and a little grandchild, Katharine Beale, the daughter of his oldest son, Fenton, who died within a few hours of his wife in the influenza epidemic of 1918. The funeral services will be conducted from Beaver Dam Baptist Church this (Friday) afternoon at 3 o’clock by Rev. M.A. MacLean of the Franklin Baptist Church and interment will be made in the family plot at Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin. The active pallbearers will be E.L. Beale, W.M.
