TILMAN VANN BAILEY

   HANDSOM - A funeral service for Tilman Van Bailey*, 96, will be held today 
at 2 p.m. in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Revs. Arthur W. Green and 
Harry W. Bunch.  Burial was in Southampton Memorial Park, Franklin.

   Pallbearers were: J.L. Porter, Walter Bishop, R.B.Story, J.C. Story, Ray 
Johnson and Henry Fowler.

   Bailey died Tuesday in Southampton Memorial Hosptial.

   A lifelong resident of Southampton County, he was the husband of Rosa 
Francis Bailey.  He was a retired farmer and a member of Mount Horeb United 
Methodist Church.

   Other survivors include four daughters, Bessie B. Johnson of Handsom and 
Dorothy B. Gelhaus of Courtland, Alese B. Tucker of Newsoms and Vivian B. 
Kaikas of Fremont, Calif.; two sons, William B. Bailey Sr. of Courtland and 
Tilmun Vann Bailey, Jr. of Pine Bluff, Ark.; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great 
grandchildren.
