  William Arrington Bell, one of the oldest citizens of Southampton county, 
died at his residence, in the Berlin and Ivor district, on the 27th.

d. 27 Apr 1890, at home, Southampton Co., age ca. 71, 
interred in the BELL family cemetery*, "Elm Grove," Cabin Point Rd., 
"Roanoke (VA) Daily Times," May 3, 1890 (Vol. 6, No. 127),

Additional information: 

W.A. BELL appears in the 1870 Census (E side Nottaway R., p. 72, dwl 555, 
   fam 538) age 40, with [2nd] wife H.E. (23), 2 children (2 & 11 mos.) 
   & G.I. Bell, 69- his mother?  Image posted at:

William A. BELL [misindexed William S.] appears in the 1870 Census 
   (Berlin & Ivor Twp., p. 53, fam #443) age 51, with [2nd] wife Harriet (33), 
   6 children (13-1) & Grizzie J. Bell, 79- his mother?  Image posted at:

The cemetery list gives his mother's maiden name as Gillian T. ANDERSON. 

Her (recopied) marriage bond gives Gillian I. (T.?) [sic]. 
   Southampton Co. M.Reg. 1750-1853, pp. 216, 665. 

The 25 Sep 1854 marriage record of Baptist minister Putnam OWENS to 
   Billie B. BELL gives her parents as "Wm & Grizzie J. Bell."
