He was operated upon on January 6, never recovering. All that loving hands and medical skill could do was done to no avail. Mr. Blow was born in Hertford County, N.C., and was the son of the late Augustus and Sallie Blow. He lived near Rich Square, N.C., prior to moving to Boykins in 1927, where he was engaged in the mercantile business. He was twice married. In 1900 he was married to Miss Margaret Clark of Rich Square, who died in 1916. The following children blessed this union: Mrs. H.S. Bennett, Norfolk; Dr. Ralph Blow, Norfolk; Mrs. O.C. Brown, Rich Square; J.C. Blow, Boykins and Mrs. W.W. Barnes, Ahoskie. In 1920 he married Miss Lillie Kinsbrow of Jamestown, N.C. He is survived by his wife, the above-mentioned children, nine grandchildren, two brothers, J.R. Blow, Rich Square, and C.E. Blow, Raleigh; three sisters, Mrs. S.P. McDaniel, Woodland, N.C., Mrs. Hattie Joyner, Potecasi, N.C., and Mrs. A.G. Joyner, Rich Square. Funeral services were conducted from the Boykins Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock by his pastor, Rev. F.B. Handley, assisted by Rev. H.F. Turner, of the Methodist Church. The large attendance and numerous floral offerings attested to the high esteem in which the deceased was held. The casket was covered with a pall of red roses, white lilies and fern. During the service a quartet composed of Mrs. A.M. Williams, Mrs. F.B. Handley, Miss Emily Hines and L.L. Story, sang "Faith of Our Fathers." The choir sang "Abide with Me." Another quartet, Mrs. A.M. Williams, Mrs. H.M. Purviance, Mrs. F.B. Handley and L.L. Story sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Active pallbearers were: J.W. Holland, J.H. Barnes, W. Herbert Britt, J.T. Davis, J.R. Stephens, R.S. Edwards, W.F. McKinstry and S.E. Vick, all deacons of the Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers included members of the Baracca Bible Class, of which the deceased was a member. Interment was made in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. Mr. Blow was an active and consistent member of the Boykins Baptist Church and at the time of his death he was serving on the Board of Deacons. He greatly loved his Lord and desired that the work of Christ’s Kingdom should go forward. He was a character greatly beloved by both young and old alike because he was gentle in heart and hand, the example of lowly courtesy and earnest faithfulness.
