He was the husband of Mrs. Mary Lee Luter Billups and the son of Joyner R. and Cornelia Rountree Billups. He had resided here for the past 15 years, having moved to the Black Creek community from North Carolina. Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Aubrey Butler of Buckhorn, Va.; one son, Thornton Billups of Franklin; one granddaughter, Jacqueline Butler; one brother, I.A. Billups of Ivor; and one sister, Mrs. Delia Horne of Norfolk. Funeral services were conducted in the chapel of the W.J.M. Holland and Son Funeral Home Sunday at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. Len B. Allen, pastor of Black Creek Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Octie Beal, Earl Drewry, J.C. Beal, T.J. Blythe, C.C. Edwards, Charles Bulls, Roland Whitley and Linwood Bradshaw.
