All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ MARY LEE LUTER BILLUPS Mrs. Mary Luter Billups, 59, of Black Creek died at Obici Memorial Hospital, Suffolk, Monday night after an illness of several weeks. She was the widow of Joseph Lang Billups and a daughter of William Thomas Luter and the late Mrs. Josephine Powell Luter of Isle of Wight County. She was a member of Black Creek Baptist church and its Woman’s Missionary Society. Besides her father, surviving are one son, Thornton Billups of Franklin; one daughter, Mrs. Audrey Butler of Carrsville; three sisters, Mrs. W.E. Garner of Ivor, Mrs. J.L. Beasley of Wakefield and Mrs. R.L. Sadley Jr., of Zuni and two brothers, E.M. Luter and W.N. Luter, both of Zuni, a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service was conducted at W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. Len B. Allen, Jr., pastor of Black Creek Baptist Church, and the Rev. William H. Corbitt of Suffolk. Burial was in Black Creek Church cemetery. Pallbearers were Ocie Beale, Earl Drewry, J.B. Beale, T.J. Blythe, C.C. Edwards, Charles Bulls, Roland Whitley and Robert Lowe.
