Bowles, aged 66 years, well-known resident of the Newsoms community, died Thursday night after an illness of one year. Mr. Bowles is survived by his wife, Mrs. Louise Vick Bowles; two daughters, Mrs. Kate Holland and Mrs. H.M. Butler; one son, B.L. Bowles, all of Portsmouth; four brothers, J.H. Bowles, of North Emporia; W.T. Bowles, of Sunbeam; D.F. Bowles, of Suffolk, and A.J. Bowles, of Portsmouth; three sisters, Mrs. Lucy Gay, of Portsmouth; Mrs. Fannie Daughtrey, of Portsmouth, and Mrs. C.D. Crumpler, of Sunbeam; ten nieces and fourteen nephews. Funeral services will be held at Newsoms Methodist Church Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, the Rev. C.F. Moseley officiating. Interment will be Newsoms Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** WALTER K. BOWLES Services for Walter K. Bowles, Newsoms community resident who died at the age of 66 on Thursday night of last week were conducted at Newsoms Methodist Church last Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock. The Rev. H.F. Turner of Boykins Methodist Church officiated, assisted by the Rev. C.F. Moseley of Newsoms Methodist Church, the Rev. D.S. Dempsey of Portsmouth and the Rev. R.E. Brittle of Suffolk. A trio from Jackson Memorial Methodist Church, Portsmouth, sang "The Christian’s Goodnight." The choir of the Newsoms Methodist Church sang "Nearer My God to Thee" and "The Land Where We Never Grow Old." Pall bearers were Peter Worrell, John Worrell, Ben Rountree, Hugh Vincent, Ernest Cutchin, Luther Gray, T.L. Mulder and Amos Porter. The casket was covered with a pall of roses and lilies. Walter K.
