All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ WILLIAM ALBERT BLYTHE Albert Blythe, the oldest son of William and Maria Blythe, was born in Southampton county December 27, 1843, and died at the home of his oldest daughter in Sedley, Va., May 24, 1928, in his 85th year. All of his life, with the exception of the years from 1861 - ’65 when he served in the Southern Army, was spent within a radius of three miles from his birthplace. He was married January 26, 1874, to Nancy Cobb. They were the parents of 14 children, four of whom died in infancy. Seven sons and three daughters have grown to maturity and all but one were present at the time of his burial. With his wife he joined the Friends Church in 1886. Their children bear testimony to the fact that they were in earnest in their efforts to conduct a Christian home and train their children to useful men and women. Funeral services were conducted at the Friends Church in Sedley by the Pastor, Rev. Nathan Pickett, Friday, May 25, at 5 p.m. Burial in the family burial plot on the Franklin road. The body bearers were: Russell Owen, John Beaton, W.F. Lewis, R.H. Joyner, Collin Blythe, James Vaughan, Walter Cobb and Charles Blythe.
