All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ CLIFTON CLARENCE BLYTHE Clifton Clarence Blythe, Sr., 69, former Franklin post office employee and retired laundryman, died in Raiford Memorial Hospital on Wednesday afternoon, March 5, after an illness of a few weeks. The deceased was the husband of Mrs. Annie Bettie Edwards Blythe and a son of the late Albert A.* and Mrs. Nancy Cobb Blythe of this county. He was a member of High Street Methodist Church and of its R.M. Chandler Bible Class. Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Emmett W. Holt of Franklin; three sons, Raymond Blythe, C.C. Blythe, Jr., and Earving* Blythe, all of Franklin; seven grandchildren; four brothers, Bennie Blythe of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., T.G. Blythe of Zuni, T.A. Blythe of Sedley, and H.A. Blythe of Franklin; and three sisters, Mrs. J.J. Bradshaw of Hunterdale, Mrs. Mary Wyant of Roanoke, and Mrs. T.L. Travis of Richmond. Funeral services will be held at the residence on Clay Street this (Friday) afternoon at 4 o’clock, with Rev. Elmer N. Hassell officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** Funeral services for Clifton Clarence Blythe, Sr., 69, who died in Raiford Memorial Hospital on Wednesday afternoon, March 5, after an illness of a few weeks, were conducted from the residence on Clay Street last Friday afternoon at 4 o’clock. Rev. Elmer N. Hassell, pastor of High Street Methodist Church, officiated at the home and at the burial in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were members of the R.M. Chandler Bible class, to which the deceased had belonged for many years. Active pallbearers were Otis Blythe, Herman G. Bowles, Bernard Bradshaw, Vandy Carpenter, Gordon Cobb, W.T. Johnson, V.C. Lankford, Jr., and Roscoe H. Stephenson.
