A lifelong resident of Franklin community, he was a son of Archie and Mrs. Keaton Beale Blythe of Southampton County. Besides his widow, surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Ruby B. Nelms of Smithfield, Mrs. Katherine B. Parker of Gates, N.C., and Miss Allie Mae Blythe and Mrs. Irene B. Bulls of Franklin; six sons, Melvin L. Blythe of Smithfield and William Kelly Blythe, Edward H. Blythe, D.C. Blythe, Clinton F. Blythe and Franklin R. Blythe of Franklin, a sister, Mrs. J.G. Joyner, Sr., 27 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A funeral service was conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. R.E. Brittle of Bethlehem Christian Church. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were Cary Blythe, M.B. Blythe, Howard Blythe, James L. Blythe, J.G.
