JESSE BLYTHE

   Jesse Blythe, aged 87, a lifelong resident and farmer of Southampton 
County, died April 20 while in the field near his home in the Franklin 
community.  He was the son of the late Jesse and Lavinia Wester Blythe. 
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Iola Harcum Blythe*; five sons, W.N., 
J.R., Ezra, Bennie and Jesse DeBordenave Blythe; three daughters, Mrs. 
Frank Blythe, Mrs. Charlie Blythe and Miss Aldine Edith Blythe, all of 
Franklin, besides 40 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a number 
of nieces and nephews.

   Services were conducted at the residence Thursday, April 21, at 4:30 
o’clock by the Rev. R.E. Brittle, burial following in the family cemetery. 
Pallbearers were his grandsons, honorary bearers being grandsons-in-law.

Jesse is buried with 1st wife, Mary Jane (MUNFORD) BLYTHE {1849-1913}, 
   daughter of Wade & Sally (JOYNER) MOUNTFORD {MUMFORD/MUNFORD}. 
   Jesse & Mary Jane were married 5 Jan 1871 (m.lic. 3 Jan 1871).
