Blythe FRANKLIN - Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow for Lee Butler Blythe, 83*, who died Tuesday at Raiford Memorial Hospital after several months' illness. The rites will be held at W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral home with the Rev. James W. Turner, pastor of the High Street Methodist Church, and the Rev. Francis L. Hunt, pastor of the Monumental Methodist Church of Emporia, officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Blythe, a Southampton County native, was a retired lumberman and former employee of Camp Manufacturing Company. He belonged to the High Street Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edna Purcell Blythe of Emporia and five daughters, Mrs. J.F. Winbaer, of Richmond; Mrs. J.J. Mosley and Mrs. Calvin Patrick, both of Emporia; Mrs. M.J. Wise, of Murfreesboro, N.C., and Mrs. H.O. Garber, of Williamsburg; two sons, Lee Purcell Blythe of Suffolk, and William A. Blythe of Franklin; 23 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a brother, J.E. Blythe, of Reform, Ala., and two sisters, Mrs. C.S. Mahone, of Norfolk, and Mrs. Burgess Dick, of Zuni. ****************************************************************************** L. BUTLER BLYTHE Lee Butler Blythe, 85*, of Emporia, for half a century a resident of Franklin and an employee of Camp Manufacturing Co., Inc., died in Raiford Memorial Hospital early Tuesday morning, November 16, after several years of declining health. The deceased was the husband of Mrs. Edna Purcell Blythe of Emporia, who survives him. His parents were the late John and Louise Wester Blythe of this county. He was a member of High Street Methodist Church. Besides his wife he is survived by five daughters, Mrs. J.F. Winbauer of Richmond, Mrs. J.J. Moseley and Mrs. Calvin Patrick of Emporia, Mrs. M.J. Wise of Murfreesboro, N.C., and Mrs. H.O. Garber of Williamsburg; two sons, Lee Purcell Blythe of Suffolk and William A. Blythe of Franklin; 23 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a brother, J.E. Blythe of Reform, Ala; and two sisters, Mrs. C.S. Mahone of Norfolk and Mrs. Burgess Duck of Zuni. Funeral services for Mr. Blythe were held in the chapel of W.J.M. Holland & Sons this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. Rev. James W. Turner, pastor of High Street Methodist Church, and Rev. Francis Hunt, pastor of Monumental Methodist Church, Emporia, officiated. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, the pallbearers being S.A. Carr. N.T. Duck, L. Britt Holland, Lee Presson, Don Padgett, R.H. Rawles, Jr., John H. Scott and Elton Tomlin.
