Blythe Buried June 21 Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy Belle Turner Blythe, 71, who died Monday, June 19 at the home of a brother, Willie Turner of Portsmouth, was held at 2:30 P.M. (EST) at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, with burial in Ivor Cemetery. She was the widow of John T. [sic*] Blythe, a native of Southampton County [sic*] and a member of Buckhorn Baptist Church. Surviving also are two daughters, Mrs. J.L. Wade of Ivor and Mrs. H.E. Underwood of Suffolk; a son, Emmett E. Green of Portsmouth; and a sister, Mrs. Rosa T. Holt of Sedley. Her marker gives b. 3 Oct 1924, which is problematic. Lucy's second husband, John Henry BLYTHE, d. 11 Jun 1922, Southampton Co., and is buried with his first wife in Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Cofield, Hertford Co., NC. Cola Hudson GREEN, 16 Mar 1906, in Hertford Co., VA. Her D.Cert. (16074 {Portsmouth #55}) gives b. NC. Daughter Jessie Virginia GREEN m. Hersey Edward UNDERWOOD, Jr. (1914-1970), 30 Nov 1935, in Courtland; they div. 1968 in Nansemnd Co. Jessie 2m. an OWENS, and is buried in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. Hersey is buried in Wakefield Cemetery, as is their son Philip Melvin UNDERWOOD (1941-1987). Lucy's sister Rosa (TURNER; Mrs. Jas. Mallory) HOLT is buried in Waverly Cemetery. Their mother, Elizabeth "Bettie" (VICK; Mrs. Mills Richard "Bose") TURNER, has been added to a BISHOP family cemetery, on Sunbeam Rd.
