All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ MITCHELL CHARLES BLYTHE Mitchell Charles Blythe, 76, prosperous retired farmer residing near Courtland, died Sunday morning in Raiford Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health for many months. "Mr. Mitchell," as he was known to his many friends, was a son of the late Robert Henry* and Rebecca Scott Blythe of this county, and a member of Bethel Friends Meeting. Surviving him are a brother, Jesse M. Blythe, with whom he made his home; three sisters, Mrs. Jennie S. Joyner and Miss Nellie J. Blythe of Courtland and Mrs. Lillian E. Holland of Suffolk; four nieces, Mrs. Evelyn Collier and Mrs. Jennie B. Hornok of Courtland, and Mrs. Rebecca Bradshaw and Miss Louise Copeland of Suffolk; and a great-niece, Miss Evelyn June Collier of Courtland. Funeral services for Mr. Blythe were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock in the Holland Funeral Home by his pastor, Rev. James R. Stein. Interment followed in Poplar Spring Cemetery, with Hersey Scott, Hunter Blythe, Exum N. White, Hunter Scott, J. Edward Moyler, Vance W. Vaughan, R.R. Lankford and Ashby Blythe as active pallbearers.
