According to his mother he had been picking blackberries and told her he was going to try to sell them. He was last seen between 11 and 11:30 o’clock that morning. Two Negro boys discovered the body shortly after noon reported it to Mrs. Blythe. Dr. J.C. Rawls of Franklin was designated by Isle of Wight coroner Dr. Ray Parker of Smithfield to act for him, and he declared the death to have resulted from suffocation. Just how the accident occurred was not ascertained. The sandpile was on a vacant lot near highway 58 between a parking shed and a barn. The sand had been hauled there only a comparatively short while ago. It was thought that the child was tunneling into it and the sand collapsed on him. Besides his parents the child is survived by a brother, Adolph Blythe; two sisters, Jacqueline and Barbara Jean Blythe; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L.B. Blythe of Franklin and Mr. and Mrs. L.B. Burgess of Murfreesboro. Services were conducted from the Holland Funeral Home here Wednesday afternoon at 5 o’clock by Dr. Elwood W. Jones, pastor of the deceased assisted by the Rev. Harry W. Backhus, III. Pallbearers were Purcell Blythe, Norman Edwards, Herbert and Kigh Burgess. Interment was made in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Marvin Lee BLYTHE, son of William A. & Jessie R.
