A native of Southampton County, he was a son of Hersey A. Bolton and the late Mrs. Queenie Porter Bolton and the husband of Mrs. Mary Bolton. He was a house painter, an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, and a member of Boykins Baptist Church. Besides his father and widow, surviving are a daughter, Miss Diane Bolton, and a son, Steve Bolton, both of Emporia; his stepmother, Mrs. Ruth W. Bolton of Branchville; a brother, T.Q. Bolton of Branchville; and two sisters, Mrs. Adrian Drake and Mrs. Mildred Lassiter of Boykins. A funeral service was conducted Saturday at 3 p.m. in Boykins Baptist Church by the Rev. Ben Ussery, pastor, and the Rev. Russell Brimmer of Branchville. Burial was in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, with McDowell Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Godwin Smith, T.R. Griffin, Bobby Lewis, Frank Eley, Newman Milteer and Milton Deberry.
