IDA VIRGINIA EDWARDS BALANCE

   NEWSOMS - A funeral service for Mrs. Ida Virginia Balance was conducted 
Friday at 2:30 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. John 
Williams, pastor of Sunbeam Baptist Church. Burial was in Sycamore Church 
Cemetery.

   Pallbearers were Marvin Worrell, Jim Whitley, Cabell Hurst, Leon Minton, 
Donald Rountree, and Joe Whitley.

   Mrs. Balance, 83, died Wednesday morning in Lakeside Nursing Home, Suffolk, 
after a long illness.

   A native of Southampton County, she was a member of Sunbeam Baptist Church 
and its women’s Missionary Society.

   She was the widow of Walter W. Balance and a daughter of Joseph and Mrs. 
Mary Turner Edwards.

   Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Emmett Drake of Cocoa, Fla., and Mrs. 
Valon Rountree of Newsoms; a grandchild; and four great-grandchildren.
