MARIAN BEALE BLAIR

   Mrs. Marian Beale Blair, former resident of Franklin, died at her home in 
Galax at noon Sunday after an illness of a few days.  She was the daughter of 
the late Maggie Vaughan Beale and Jule* W. Beale, of Franklin, and is survived 
by her husband, Walter J. Blair, and one son, Walter J. Blair, Jr. of Galax; 
one sister, Mrs. J.O. Haslett of Franklin; one brother, J.W. Beale, Jr. of 
Richmond; a half-brother, Thornton Beale of Franklin; her stepmother, Mrs. 
Jule W. Beale, of Franklin; one niece, Carolyn Haslett, and one nephew, Jack 
Haslett, Jr., both of Franklin.

   Services were conducted at the grave in Poplar Spring Cemetery here Monday 
afternoon at 4:30 o’clock by the Rev. William Brayshaw of Smithfield.  Friends 
of the family were honorary pallbearers, while active bearers were D.T. 
Prince, Jas. I. Beale, J. Soble, R.C. Councill, Geo. H. Parker, C.C. Vaughan, 
III, Franklin Edwards and D.B. Waugh of Galax.
