Ira D. Hudgins. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery with W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were G.H. Parker Jr., James Wagenbach, Harry Jones, A.W. Livesay, H.A. Purnell, Pete Carter, James Joyner and Charlie Kingery. Bowen, 71, died in his home Thursday morning after a brief illness. A native of Palatka, Fla., he was the husband of Mrs. Hazel Smith Bowen and a son of J.E. and Mrs. Irene Barden. (Bowen) He was a retired foreman of Union Camp Corp. He was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and its Bruner Bible Class, Franklin Masonic Lodge 151, Hunterdale Ruritan Club, and the American Legion Post 73. He was a World War I veteran. Besides his widow, surviving are three sons, Carl L. Bowen Jr., Phillip Bowen, and Richard Bowen of Franklin; and two grandchildren.
