All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ERNEST LINWOOD BANKS Ernest Linwood Banks, age 71 years, well known and prominent resident of Winton, N.C., died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Thad Eure of Raleigh, N.C., Friday night. Mr. Banks was a retired merchant and farmer, a very devout communicant and Senior Warden of St. Johns’ Episcopal Church of Winton. He was the husband of the late Emily Lee Banks, who preceded him in death August 10, 1945. Surviving Mr. Banks are his mother, Mrs. M.B. Banks, of Suffolk, three daughters, Mrs. Thad Eure of Raleigh, Mrs. R.E. Coggsdale of Franklin, Mrs. W.P. Johnston of Goldsboro, N.C., one son, Dr. E.L. Banks, Jr., of Atlanta, three brothers: W.C. Banks of Washington, Walter Banks of Portsmouth and J.T. Banks of Norfolk; two sisters, Mrs. Mollie Hines of Suffolk, and Mrs. Lybrun Pruitt of Alexandria; four grandchildren, Misses Beverly and Martha Banks of Atlanta, Thad Eure, Jr., and Miss Armecia Eure of Raleigh. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at St. Johns’ Episcopal Church, Winton. Interment in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin. Active pallbearers were: T.D. Northcutt, Fred Liverman, Douglas Parker, T.M. Coudon, J.C. Eure, James Balentine.
