All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ JOSEPH ELDRIDGE BANTY Joseph Eldridge Banty, 26, of Carson, Dinwiddie County, son of William H. and Ada Mae Revelle Banty of Carson, died instantly Thursday night, July 30, in an automobile accident near Homeville, Sussex County. He made his home with his uncle, R.L. Banty, of the Capron community, and at the time of the accident was on his way to a ball game at Stony Creek. In addition to his parents he is survived by four brothers, John H. Banty Stony Creek, Benjamin and W.H. Banty, Jr., of Waverly, and James Banty, U. S. Army; and four sisters, Mrs. Georgia Mae Cabell of Akron, Ohio, Mrs. Virginia Grant Price of Petersburg, and Mrs. Elizabeth Lemmons and Miss Debbie Marie Banty of Carson. Funeral services for Mr. Banty were conducted in the chapel of W.J.M. Holland & Sons on Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock by Rev. Marshall W. Anderson, pastor of the Boykins Methodist Church, and J.T. Cassell, pastor of the Capron Methodist Church. Burial was in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, the pallbearers being Henry Beville, Hubert Frye, David Gill, Milton E. Leath, Eugene C. Lennock, and Alvin Carlton Smelley.
