All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ HERBERT WHARTON BEAMAN HERBERT BEAMAN, 66, BURIED HERE TODAY Herbert Wharton Beaman, age 66, well-known resident of Franklin, died early Tuesday morning in Raiford Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He is the husband of Mary Cobb Beaman, and the son of the late Walter Edward and Annis Powell Beaman, of Franklin. A member of the Franklin Baptist church, and the Men’s Bruner Bible Class, he was a retired employee of the Union Bag-Camp Paper Corp., having been a sawyer for about thirty seven years. Surviving beside his wife are one daughter, Mrs. Ruby Beaman Bishop, Franklin, and one son, Walter Edward Beaman, of Newport News, and four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Covington, Virginia Beach, Mrs. Vernon G. Harlin, Kinsale; and one brother, Robert Beaman, of Ocean View, also a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held from the Holland Funeral Chapel Thursday (today) at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor, and the Rev. Donald Dunlap, assistant pastor of the Franklin Baptist Church, and Rev. T.W. Downing, pastor of Sycamore Baptist Church. Burial was made in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were Frederick Williams, J.J. Bradshaw, Jr., W.B. Hastings, Rupert Tart, Conway Holland, S. Bailey Atwell, Russell Cotton and Lawless Cobb.
