BLACK CREEK - A funeral service for Alvin Grant Brock Sr. was held February 24 in Franklin by the Rev. Sydney Cowles. Burial was in Black Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers were William Billups, Calvin Brantley, Cadmus Stephenson, Roger Tomlin, James Hatfield, Miles Carr, A.C. Carr Jr. and Charles Bulls. Brock, 51, died February 22 in Southampton Memorial Hospital after a short illness. A lifetime resident of the community, he was the husband of Mrs. Beatrice Turner Brock and a son of the late William Richard and Mrs. Gracie Grant Brock. He was a farmer and a member of Black Creek Baptist Church. Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lilly Faison, two sons, Alvin G. Brock Jr., and Ivan M. Brock, all of Zuni; two sisters, Mrs. Lilly B. Glover of Franklin, Mrs. Vida B. English of Drewryville, three brothers, George E. Brock of Franklin, Rossie W. Brock of Carrsville, and Elbert L. Brock of Courtland and four grandchildren, Curtis R. Faison, Diana L. Faison, Chad T. Brock and Tara T. Brock of Zuni.
