Brooks, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Brooks, died Tuesday night after an illness of only a few days, following an attack of pneumonia. Braxton, who was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Brooks, was eleven years of age and a fifth grade pupil in the Franklin Grammar School. He is survived by his parents; a brother, Leland Brooks; a sister, Miss Dorothy Brooks, a student at the Eastern Carolina Teachers College at Greenville, and an uncle, Leland Fleetwood, of Franklin. Braxton was a young boy of very bright mind and straightforward character, and numbered many friends among his acquaintances at school and in his neighborhood. The funeral services were conducted at the grave in Poplar Spring Cemetery Wednesday afternoon at 4:30, by Rev. R. D. Stephenson, pastor of Franklin Baptist Church, of which Braxton was a faithful attendant. The active pallbearers were: W. H. Norfleet, E. M. Bryant, T. H. Canady, W. O. Bogart, Jonah Soble and J. O. H. Daughtery. Honorary pallbearers were: Jack Norfleet, Thomas Campbell, Marvin Lee Bryant and James and Robert Beale. The funeral was largely attended a number of Grammar School pupils being present. The sympathy of the entire town and community goes out to the bereaved parents in the heavy loss they have sustained.
