She was the widow of James Robert Brooks and a daughter of George Washington Bradshaw and Mrs. Susie Whitfield Bradshaw of Southampton County. She was a member of Courtland Baptist Church and its Ladies Missionary Society. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Julia Dickens of Williamsburg and Mrs. Harvey Roberts and Mrs. R.W. Nixon of Courtland; three sons, James B. Brooks of Chevy Chase, Md., Davis Lee Brooks of Danville and Z.T. Brooks of Emporia; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. Millard R. Bryant of Courtland, Mrs. Paul T. Edwards of Boykins and Mrs. Herman Smith of Newsoms; one brother, Roy Bradshaw of Newsoms. A funeral service was held in Courtland Baptist Church Sunday at 2 p.m. by the pastor, the Rev. Robert Lee Bailey and the Rev. Tucker G. Humphries, pastor of Franklin Congregational Christian Church. Burial was in Riverside* Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bynum Bryant, Gilbert Bryant, Leslie Bryant, W.B. Ellis, David Kitchen and Hersey Bradshaw. Vassie (BRADSHAW; Mrs. James R.)
