William Lovick Burks, 79, retired Methodist minister, died in a Petersburg hospital on Sunday, July 5. He was well known in Southampton County, having served as pastor of the Courtland charge during the time of World War I. He had been a resident of McKenney for the past eight years. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Shaw of Charlottesville, Mrs. Churchill G. Ridley of Courtland, and Mrs. C.H. Zehmer of McKenney; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and three brothers. Funeral services were conducted at the Asbury Methodist Church, McKenney, of which the deceased was a former pastor, on Tuesday morning at 11 o’clock, followed by burial in the church cemetery. Rev.
