Miss Burges was a member of an old and prominent Southampton family, daughter of the late Dr. Richard Urquhart Burges, and of Mrs. Mattie B. Burgess who survived her with two sisters, Mrs. D.J. Barton of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Mrs. Guy Mason of Washington; a nephew, Ash Burges, and a niece Mrs. H.P. Harnsburger, both of Washington. She also has a large family connection in this county and a wide circle of friends. Funeral rites were held Wednesday afternoon at 4 o’clock at the family cemetery on "Oak Grove" plantation near Berlin by the Rev. Henry W. Davis of High Street M.E. Church, Franklin, the pallbearers being: Guy O. Mason, G.C. Niblett, D.H. Pulley, E.V. Stephenson, G.C. Powell, W.C. Rawls, L.T. Saunders, F.T. Joyner and J.F. Felts.
