DEAN RAMSEY BURGESS 

   COURTLAND - A funeral service for Mrs. Dean Ramsey Burgess was conducted at 
2 p.m. Tuesday in W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Rev. 
William F. McMchan and the Rev. Roy Arnold. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.

   Pallbearers were Lloyd Burgess, Milton Francis, Wayne Burgess, Joe Barham, 
Lewis Bryant, Jack Vick, Elmo Fowler and Tommy Bradshaw.

   Mrs. Burgess, 40, died in the Medical College of Virginia Hospital Sunday.

   A native of Southampton County, she was a daughter of Mrs. Carrie Jarrett 
Ramsey and the late Bert Travis Ramsey and the wife of Joseph M. Burgess.

   She was a member of the Vincent Grove Methodist Church and the Woman’s 
Society of Christian Service.

   Besides her husband and mother, she is survived by a daughter, Miss Jenny 
Gay Burgess; five sons, Joseph M. Burgess Jr., Barry Dean Burgess, Perry Glenn 
Burgess, Wyatt Dale Burgess and Todd Ramsey Burgess, all of Courtland; two 
sisters, Mrs. Eugenia Ruddock of Lake Isabel, Calif., and Mrs. Francis Malone 
of Lawrenceville; two brothers, Edward Ramsey of Ashland and Bert Ramsey Jr. 
of Drewryville.
