Brittle. Wright Funeral Home has charge. Burgess died Tuesday in a hospital. A native of Southampton County, he was the husband of Janet Bryant Burgess. He was a member of Hunterdale Christian Church and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was retired from Higgerson-Buchanan Inc. as a construction superintendent. Other survivors include three daughters, Gale B. Duke and Linda B. Carter, both of Franklin, and Carole B. Holland of Suffolk; a son, Mac Burgess of Chesapeake; a sister, Virginia Covington of Franklin; three brothers, Roland Burgess and Jimmy Burgess of Courtland, and Reginald Burgess of Petersburg; and four grandchildren.
