All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ GEORGE GARVEY BURGESS Franklin - George Garvey Burgess, Sr., 84, of Route 3, a native of Southampton County died Thursday in a Norfolk hospital Mr. Burgess had retired as a power plant operator for Union Camp Corp. He was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church and its Men’s Bible Class. He was a former deacon of the church and a member of Franklin Masonic Lodge 151. Survivors include his wife Myra Forrest Burgess; two sons Calvin R. Burgess and George G. Burgess, Jr., both of Franklin; a brother John D. Burgess of Franklin; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today in Wright Funeral Home by the Revs. David Adams and James Luck. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to the church’s building fund.
