Burgess, 61, died Friday at 4:15 p.m. in Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of Southampton County, he was a son of Mrs. Carrie Burgess and a member of Vincent Grove Methodist Church. He was a bridge foreman for the Virginia Highway Commission. He is survived by three brothers, G.S. Burgess and John D. Burgess of Courtland and George G. Burgess Sr. of Franklin. The body was taken to W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home, Franklin where a funeral service was held Sunday at 3 p.m. Burial was in Vincent Grove Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were: John Brinkley, Claud Applewhite, Carol Barnes, Gene Fowler, David Johnson and Dallas Johnson. [Paul Camp BURGESS, bridge foreman for Va.
