nent physicians of Southampton county, 
is dead.

Dr. Richard Urquhart BURGES, 
Southampton Co. native, d. Fall 1888*, age circa 47, 
interred in the URQUHART family cemetery*, "Oak Grove," Broadwater Rd., 
"Alexandria (VA) Gazette and Virginia Advertiser," Tues., Oct. 23, 1888 
   (Vol. 89, No. 250), p. 2, col. 4 


*Additional information: 

The records do not agree when he died. 

The cemetery list list gives d. 26 Oct 1888- after date of obit.

The {recopied} Southampton Co. Death Records (1853-1890) give the following: 
   Burges, Richard N., d. 23 Sep 1865, age 48, 
      sn/o A.S.H. & Louisa Burges {orig.p. 1 #28} 
   (Southampton Co. Death Records {1853-1890}, p. 130) 

This family usually spelled their name Burges, though Burgess is often given. 

His first marriage:

   sn/o Dr. A.S.H. Burgess, Physician 
Fannie N. Urquhart, 24, Single, b. & res. Southampton, 
   dt/o James B. Urquhart 
m.lic. 13 Jan 1872, by clerk L.R. Edwards 
m. 16 Jan 1872, Southampton, by William Norwood
