All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ RICHARD EXUM BRISTOW Richard Exum Bristow died at Lakeview Hospital, Suffolk, Sunday, January 2, 1927. He gave up farming some years ago on account of poor health and had been confined to the house seven weeks prior to his death. He was born April 17, 1889, at the old Bristow homestead near Corinth Church and was the son of the late Richard Allen and Martha White Bristow. His life was spent at and near the old home until two years ago when he moved to Ivor to become postmaster. He was educated at Franklin Military Academy and at Guilford College, N.C. He was principal of Corinth Academy during the years 1923-24 and 1924-25. He married Caroline Elizabeth Collier of Goldsboro, N.C., November 18, 1915, and their union was blessed with four children, Margaret Aline, Edna Kathryn, Millicent, and Richard Allen Bristow. Two brothers and one sister survive, A.S.H. Bristow of New York City, Thomas N. Bristow of Franklin, and Mrs. Herbert Cox of Clarkton, N.C. He was a member of Corinth Friends Church and his burial service was conducted by his Pastor, Rev. Leslie Frazier and by Rev. Nathan Pickett of Sedley. Interment was made in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin, and the body bearers were: E. Jerome, T. Philip, Hunter D. and E. Wistar Raiford, L.T. Saunders and J.T. Faircloth of Ivor, Isaac C. White of Franklin and Paul Cox of Suffolk.
