Bristow died at Raiford Hospital yesterday about 12:45 p.m. after an illness of several weeks which followed a long period of ill-health which he had sustained with remarkable courage and fortitude for nearly ten years. During all of this time he had made as brave a fight for recovery as we have known, enlisting the sympathy of all who knew him in his struggle to regain his health. William Orlando Bristow was born in the Black Creek community, this county, the son of the late Benjamin and Mrs. Ida Virginia Bristow, on November 19, 1877*. He became an employee of the Camp Manufacturing Co., in 1899, and was private secretary of the late P.D. He had also given valuable service to his town, both as a former member of the Town Council and on the School Board. He had been a deacon of the Franklin Baptist church for a number of years, a member of the board of trustees and treasurer of the church at the time of his death. On July 18, 1905, he married Miss Gabrielle Lydia Bryant, daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. J.F. Bryant, Mrs. Bristow dying July 12, 1924. Their children are: W.O. Bristow, Jr., of Philadelphia, Mrs. G.E. Pillow, Mrs. Marion Whitfield and Miss Virginia Bristow of this town, beside two grandchildren, G.E. Pillow, Jr. and Nancy Pillow. Funeral rites will be held tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from his late residence in Lee Street, conducted by his pastor, the Rev. R.D. Stephenson, with Rev. B.B. Bland of High Street Methodist Church assisted in the services. Burial will follow in the family plot in Poplar Spring Cemetery, the active pallbearers being: Joe Gay Bryant, John M. Camp, Henry M. Campbell, Harry Steinhardt, J. Edward Moyler, R.C. Branch, Gardner T. Edwards, Elmer Bradshaw, James A.
