All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ THOMAS DUPREE BARKER Thomas Dupree Barker, 54, of Columbia, S.C., a former resident of this county, died unexpectedly Monday morning, April 18, at St. Petersburg, Fla. while there on a visit. He was a son of the late Frederick G. and Dora Smithson Barker of Southampton County. Surviving his are his wife, Mrs. Julia Frippe Barker of Columbia, S.C.; a daughter, Mrs. Sarah Barker Odell of Hickory, N.C.; one sister, Mrs. Belle Eley of Zuni; a brother, Fred N. Barker of Courtland; and two nieces and a nephew. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday afternoon at four o'clock from the home of his brother in Courtland by Rev. E.R Collie, pastor of the Courtland Methodist Church, assisted by Rev. L.E. Holzbach, pastor of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery in Courtland, the active pallbearers being T.B. Bell, W.A. Bell, J.N. Barker, Grady Story, S. Herman Rollings, Otis M. Joyner, L.E. Bailey and R.W. Owens.
