Holland & Sons on Friday afternoon [...*] by James M. Turner, pastor of High Street Methodist Church, officiated. Interment was the Masonic rites in the family plot in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers, both active and honorary, were members of Franklin Lodge No. 151, A.F.& A.M., of which the deceased was a member. The body bearers were Ernest M. Bryant, W. Allen Doughty, William L. Heath, C. Harry Jones, Robert E. Sandlin and Edward M. Spivey. Mr. Byrd, a native of Nansemond County, was the husband of Geneva Tynes Byrd, who died in 1937. [...*] of the late James Robert and Harriett Parker Byrd of Franklin. He served with the [...*] in World War I, and was discharged with the rank of sergeant. He was a member of High Street Methodist Church. Surviving him are two sons, Jack Lee Byrd of Kenvil, N.J., and Robert Emmett Byrd, Jr., of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; five grandchildren; two brothers, C. Oscar Byrd of Franklin and Jesse Ray Byrd of Alexandria; and a sister, Mrs. Earl H. Bell of Alexandria.
