Britt of Boykins, died at her home in that town December 16 after an illness of several years duration. She was in her 47th year, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Hart of Boykins, and on April 27, 1910, was married to B.F. Britt, who survives her with their daughter, Miss Mabel Britt, a student at the College William and Mary. Mrs. Britt received her elementary education in the Boykins schools, later attending and graduating from the Blackstone College for Girls. Early in life she became a member of the Boykins M.E. Church where she was a faithful and loyal worker, a valuable member of church choir and of the different women’s organizations of the church. She was also actively interested in the Boykins Woman’s Club and the W.C.T.U. The sufferings of impaired health were borne for several years with Christian fortitude and patience, and she leaves an honorable name with her family and a wide circle of friends as a devoted wife and mother, a generous neighbor and a useful Christian citizen. Besides her husband and daughter, she is survived by three sisters, Mrs. S.J. Myrick, Mrs. A.L. Knight and Mrs. B.R. Bryant, of Boykins; two brothers, A.B. Hart of Boykins and R.E. Hart of Smokey Ordinary, besides a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Her funeral was conducted Sunday afternoon by her Pastor, Rev. R.L. Haga, assisted by Rev. F.B. Handley and Rev. Rufus Bradley, interment being made in Beechwood Cemetery. The active pallbearers were: W.W. White, Jr., C.P. Spencer, Sam Britt, L.A. Hill, W.P. Burchette, B.D. Garris, Dr. J.M. Bland and W. Hugh Powell. The honorary bearers were: W. Herbert Britt, Dr. A.R. Hodge, C.H. Britt, R.F. Marks, J.Y. Mason, C.F. Carlton, R.T. Tompkins, E.T. Britt, Hinton Smith, J.D. Ferguson, G.A. Powell, J.C. Stephenson, J.S. Drewry, H.M. Drewry, C.T. Beaton, H.G. Coleman, W.D. Mannes, T.H. Porter, F.A. Hines and Burton McLemore. Ethel L. (HART; Mrs. Benjamin F.)
