Britt, Sr., 60, died Saturday in Southampton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Mrs. Nellie Johnson Britt and a native of Southampton County. He was an employee of Union Camp Corp. and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and Suffolk Moose Lodge. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Ann White of Franklin; four sons, Lawrence C. Britt and Merrell W. Britt of Franklin, Herbert L. Britt, Jr., of Carrsville and J. Lynell Britt of Suffolk; three sisters, Mrs. Alice Britt of Ivor, and Mrs. Gracie Gray and Mrs. Josie Butler of Newsoms; three brothers, Archie Q. Britt of Wilson, N.C. and Lloyd Britt of Walters; and five grandchildren. A funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Edwin C.
