BARRETT DIES FROM HEART ATTACK John Edward Barrett, Sr., 76, lumber and real estate broker of Carrsville, died in Raiford Memorial Hospital on Sunday, June 28, after suffering a heart attack some weeks before. A native of the Statesville community, this county, Mr. Barrett was a son of the late Richard A. and Martha Everett Barrett. For some years he lived in Suffolk, Newsoms and Franklin; and for the past 46 years he had made his home in Carrsville. He was a member of Barnes Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Addie Perkins Barrett of Carrsville; one daughter, Mrs. Lillian Lee Wolfe of Carrsville; two sons, John Edward Barrett, Jr., of Roanoke and William Henry Barrett of Mineral Wells, Tex.; six grandchildren; a brother, Hugh A. Barrett of Newsoms; and a sister, Mrs. Nettie Barrett Bryant, also of Newsoms. Services for Mr. Barrett were conducted in the chapel of W.J.M. Holland & Sons on Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock, with interment in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The pallbearers were Hugh A. Barrett, Jr., James G. Boone, J.J. Bradshaw, Jr., Perkins Brett, W.T. Daughtrey, Jr., R.L. Miles, Ferme Perry and William H. Sheffield.
