A farmer and lifelong resident of Southampton County, he was a son of John B. and Mrs. Amanda Cook Britt. He was a member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church and Virginia Woodmen of the World Camp 46. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Pearl B. Knight of Suffolk, Mrs. Mattie B. Bailey of Carrollton and Mrs. Esther B. Crocker of Zuni. A funeral service was held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield, by the Rev. E.R. Cornwell. Burial was in the Britt family cemetery near Ivor. Pallbearers were W.B. Smith, Jack T. Bain, Gurney Britt, E.M. Felts, B.S. Felts, J.T. Faircloth, Jr., Narvie Britt, G.C. Powell, Jr., and Robert Rawls.
