Barrett, wife of the late M.E. Barrett, died at her home in Statesville early Sunday morning, April 28. Mrs. Barrett was the daughter of the late Caleb and Mrs. Bettie Gillette Everett of Statesville. She was a woman of many fine traits of character, a faithful and indulgent wife and mother, a good neighbor always ready to help those in need. From her youth she was a consistent member of Barnes M.E. Church, being a faithful worker in the Woman's Missionary Society and other organizations of the church. Surviving her are two daughters, Miss Mabel Barrett of Richmond and Mrs. Willie Whitley of Franklin; a son, Everett Barrett of Statesville; one sister, Mrs. C.A. Worrell of Statesville; five brothers, F.E. Everett of Boykins, J.B. Everett of Newsoms, P.G. Everett of Suffolk, C.R. Everett of Statesville, and B.W. Everett of Norfolk, and one grandson Billie Whitley of Franklin. Funeral services were held Monday conducted from the residence Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by her Pastor, Rev. J.K. Holman. Burial was made in the family burying ground. There were many beautiful floral tributes the casket being covered with a spray of lilies. Active pallbearers were: Dick Railey, R.F. Boyette, V.D. Thorpe, S.R. Simmons, C.A. Worrell, J.E. Caroon, E.W. Evans and L.L. Thorpe. Honorary pallbearers were friends of the family. Lina Mae (EVERETT; Mrs. "Mark" E.)
