LILLIAN AINSLEY BOWDEN BRITT

Mrs. Lillian Britt

Zuni - Mrs. Lillian Bowden Britt, 99, the oldest member of Tucker Swamp 
Baptist Church, died Wednesday in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital, Suffolk.

A native of Southampton County, she was the widow of Yancey P. Britt.

Survivors are five daughters, Mrs. Pearl B. Worrell, Miss Nannie Belle Britt 
and Mrs. Nora Council, all of Zuni, Mrs. B. Forrest Cobb of Windsor, and Mrs. 
Burley G. Fowler of Franklin; one son Roger Britt of Zuni; two sisters, Mrs. 
Susie B. Clark and Miss Myra Bowden of Zuni; nine grandchildren, and nine 
great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted today at 5 pm in Purviance Funeral Home, 
Wakefield, by the Rev. Grover C. Holder, the Rev. H.B. Fisher and the Rev. 
William Kissinger.  Burial will be in Tucker Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery.

   A funeral service for Mrs. Lillian Bowden Britt, 99, of Zuni, was held 
Friday at 12:30 p.m. by the Rev. Charles H. Jones of Kempsville Baptist Church.

   Pallbearers were Earl Cobb, Alpha Cobb, James Robert Cobb, McCoy Fowler, 
Bobby Fowler, Wayne Fowler, Robert Worrell and Harold Britt.

   A native of Southampton County, she was a daughter of James T. and Mrs. 
Mary Hart Bowden and the widow of Yancey P. Britt.

   She was the oldest member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church.

   She is survived by one son, Roger P. Britt of Zuni; five daughters, Mrs. 
Pearl B. Worrell, Miss Nannie Belle Britt  and Mrs. Nora; two sisters, Miss 
Myra Bowden and Mrs. Susie B. Clarke, both of Zuni; and a brother, G.E. 
Knighton of Norfolk.
