She was a native of Southampton County, Va., the daughter of the late John Rufus Bowden and Erma Horne Bowden and the widow of Emmit Gavin Barrett. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Byron C. Bowden Sr. and Herman W. Bowden. She was a lifetime member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church, Zuni, and the Daughters of Ruth and Women's Missionary Union. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Denise B. and Woody Murray of Nashville, Tenn.; son and daughter-in-law, Keith G. and Jean W. Barrett of Zuni; brother, J.R. Bowden Jr., of Zuni; and grandchildren, Lindsay Murray, Kyle Murray, Brad Barrett and Dana Barrett. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tucker Swamp Baptist Church in Zuni by the Rev. Steve Bradshaw and the Rev. Mark Habecker. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family at the chapel in the church from 7 to 9 p.m. today and other times at the residence. Memorial donations may be made to Mission Funds of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church, Antioch Church and the Ivor Volunteer Rescue Squad. Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
