Barrett, died at her home near Black Creek April 27, age 2 months and 27 days. This being the only girl of the family the occasion was a sad one. Besides mother and father she leaves three brothers to mourn her loss, Boyd, Harold and Haywood. All that loving hands and skilled physicians could do was done for her ease and recovery, but to no avail. God called and she must go. The funeral service was conducted Sunday evening from the home by the Pastor, Rev. R.P. Welch. She was laid to rest on the farm near her home. The flowers were borne by the following girls: Hazel Johnson, Lucy Johnson, Doris Johnson, Virginia Barrett, Margaret Rollins, Margaret Pittman, Mabel Hatfield, Annie Maude Hatfield, Ruth Hatfield, Ethel Hatfield, Mary Drewry and Frances Roberts. The body bearers were: Linwood Bradshaw, C.C. Edwards, L.E. Beale, Julian Drewry. Myrtle Lyndie BARRETT, daughter of Rubin P. & Grace M. (JOHNSON) BARRETT, d. 27 Apr 1929, near Black Creek*, age 2 months & 27 days, interred on the farm, near the home*, 28 Apr 1929, "The Tidewater News" (Franklin, VA), May 3, 1929 *Likely buried with her paternal grandparents, Benjamin & Mary Ann (BRYANT) BARRETT, about a mile from Black Creek on Black Creek Rd. (Rt. 635).
