He was the husband of Mrs. Margaret Pittman Britt, Ivor, and the son of the late John B. and Almada* Cook Britt of this county. He was a member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church. In addition to his wife he is survived by one brother, John B. Britt, Jr., of Ivor; and three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Britt Knight of Suffolk, Mrs. Mattie Bailey of Chuckatuck, and Mrs. P.J. Crumpler of Ivor. Funeral services were held at Tucker Swamp Baptist Church on Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock, with the pastor, Rev. L.E. Holzback, officiating, assisted by Rev. R.D. Stephenson. Interment was in the church cemetery.* The active pallbearers were C.L. Britt, Elliott Bryant, B.A. Councill, R.L. Freeman, J.W. Luter, G.C. Powell, A.W. Saunders and W.B. Smith. He is buried in Mill Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery, Isle of Wight Co., as correctly stated on his Death Certificate, #12741 (Berlin/Ivor #11) {though it has other issues}. He is given on the IWCHS GSSTF Mill Swamp list {#55}, and a photo of his marker there is posted with his Find-a-Grave Memorial, #104634823. His Death Certificate & monument give b. 14 Dec 1897. His WW-I draft registration gives b. 4 Dec 1898. *His Death Certificate gives his mother as Alamanda Elizabet [sic]. Both should read Amanda Elizabeth. His parents are buried in a BRITT-COOK family cemetery, off Hwy. 460.
