Sidney Cowles. Burial was in Black Creek Cemetery. A native of Southampton County, he was the husband of Grace Johnson Barrett and a son of Benjamin and Mrs. Mary Ann Bryant Barrett. He was a retired farmer and a member of Black Creek Baptist Church. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Benjamin Boyd Barrett of Franklin and Haywood Owen Barrett of Zuni; one sister, Mrs. M. Bell Drewry; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
