A native of Southampton County, she was the wife of Jimmie G. Brett and the daughter of William and Mrs. Roxanna Gray Cook. She was a member of New Hope Methodist Church. Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, William C. Brett of Handsom, Va.; three daughters, Mrs. William T. Rhodes of Zuni, Va., Mrs. James H. Lee of Murfreesboro, N.C. and Mrs. J.T. Sumner of Potecasi, N.C.; four sisters, Mrs. E.R. Baggett of Suffolk, Mrs. Mattie B. Porter of Courtland, Mrs. John Q. Worrell of Newsoms, and Mrs. Ada B. Holloman of Newsoms; and seven grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Monday at 3 p.m. in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin. ****************************************************************************** RUTH COOK BRETT COMO, N.C. - A funeral service for Mrs. Ruth Cook Brett was conducted Monday at 3 p.m. in Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield, by the Rev. Robert E. Abbitt of Newsoms Methodist Church, assisted by the Rev. H.L. Christie. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin. Pallbearers were Cecil Porter, Roy Porter, Marvin Porter, DeWitt Wright, Cecil Miles, Earl Worrell, George Cook and James O’berry. Mrs. Brett died Saturday in Southampton Memorial Hospital after a long illness. A native of Southampton County she was the wife of Jimmie G. Brett. She was the daughter of William and Mrs. Roxanna Gray Cook and a member of New Hope Methodist Church. Surviving besides her husband is a son, William C. Brett, Handsom; three daughters, Mrs. William T. Rhodes, Zuni; Mrs. James H. Lee, Murfreesboro, N.C.; and Mrs. J.T. Sumner, Poticasi, N.C. ; four sisters, Mrs. A.R.
